Kansas Children’s Service League’s (KCSL) 2025 Red Stocking Breakfasts brought communities together across the state, raising approximately $157,000 to support children and families. With 1,121 attendees at breakfasts in Overland Park, Wichita and Topeka, these holiday fundraising events continued KCSL’s long-standing tradition of supporting child safety and family well-being.

“Red Stocking Breakfast brings the community together in a powerful way,” said Gail Cozadd, KCSL CEO. “It’s a joyful event with a real purpose, helping ensure children across our state grow up safe, supported and surrounded by opportunity.”

Bringing Communities Together to Support Families

The Red Stocking Breakfast has become a beloved annual holiday fundraising event. Inspired by the “Little Red Stockings” once hung by children at KCSL’s receiving home, the Red Stocking Breakfast continues a Kansas holiday tradition over 100 years old. This festive, come-and-go breakfast is more than a celebration; it’s a way for communities to come together and make a meaningful impact for local families.

This year marked the 20th Overland Park breakfast, 32nd in Topeka and 34th in Wichita, highlighting KCSL’s ongoing commitment to children and families. Each breakfast featured a hot breakfast buffet served by local celebrity volunteers, festive photos with Santa and special guests and raffle prizes. Children 10 and under attended free, making the events accessible for families.

Supporting Prevention and Family-Strengthening Programs

Proceeds from the 2025 Red Stocking Breakfasts directly support KCSL’s child abuse prevention, family support, school readiness and education programs and services, helping ensure children grow up safe, supported and surrounded by opportunity. Last year alone, KCSL:

  • Served thousands of children and families statewide
  • Helped 99% of children remain safely at home with their parents
  • Trained nearly 9,000 professionals on preventing child abuse
  • Provided weekly home visits to over 1,000 families supporting healthy child development

Making Prevention Possible through Community Engagement

Community support is at the heart of every Red Stocking Breakfast. KCSL extends its gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, celebrity servers and community partners who helped make this year’s events successful, as well as to everyone who attended and invested in Kansas families. Together, the 2025 Red Stocking Breakfasts did more than celebrate the holiday season. They strengthened families, supported prevention and helped create safer, healthier communities for children across Kansas.
