A Message from Gail
Hello Friends,
At Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL), our mission to protect and promote the well-being of children is more than just a statement; it’s an ongoing commitment that guides our daily work. We know that with the right support, parents and caregivers can foster positive childhood experiences and build stronger, happier families. This support establishes a foundation where children feel secure, valued and confident. When families thrive, entire communities benefit from stronger social connections and healthier environments. Understanding our “why” gives purpose to our actions and meaning to our mission.
Prevention is Our Best Investment
During my time at KCSL, I have witnessed firsthand how supporting families before adversity occurs can completely change their trajectory. Our work is built on pillars of prevention. We focus on creating safe and stable relationships that provide families with a strong foundation for success. Through our services, we help parents develop crucial skills, access necessary resources and establish collaborative networks. From preparing children for school to providing concrete supports, we equip families with the tools they need to manage stress and reduce the risks of abuse and neglect.
This work is rooted in a simple yet powerful belief that every child deserves a great childhood and every family should have the support they need to succeed. Child abuse prevention is at the heart of our mission. Through proven programs, training and other valuable services, we don’t just help families get by; we help them thrive. Last year, 99% of children in families who received KCSL services remained safely at home with their parents. Each of these families shows what’s possible when prevention is prioritized: stronger families, safer children and connected communities.
Become a Part of Prevention
Achieving our mission requires community awareness and involvement. Everyone plays a role in creating safe spaces for children and families. Your active participation makes our prevention efforts possible. Whether you volunteer your time, share our message or offer financial support, you become an integral part of why child abuse prevention is necessary. At KCSL, our “why” remains clear and unwavering: every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy, safe and loved.
Warmly,

Gail Cozadd
