The Period of PURPLE Crying® Dose 3
Dose 3 - A public education campaign will provide this information to all those who did not receive it through the above methods. This is an important part of bringing about a cultural change as it is necessary to educate grandparents, boyfriends, neighbors and relatives about the PURPLE program so the mother and father will receive continued support and reinforcement from the community.

If you are interested in partnering with KCSL in the following ways to educate the broader population, please contact Rachelle Soden.

CLICK for Babies
Thank you to everyone who has donated caps in previous years to help prevent infant abuse and raise awareness of the Period of PURPLE Crying®, a normal period in an infant's development when they cry more than any other time. Each year is a HUGE success, and KCSL distributes thousands of purple caps statewide during November and December.

The campaign is titled CLICK for Babies to encourage participation through the "clicking" of knitting and crochet needles. It is an initiative sponsored by the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome and organized across Kansas by KCSL. Volunteers are invited to knit, crochet or loom any number of PURPLE baby caps and send them to organizers at KCSL. Caps will then be distributed to new babies by hospitals and birthing centers. If you are interested in donating baby caps, click HERE to view cap guidelines.

To participate in the campaign, please contact Rachelle Soden or visit for more information. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and join the national campaign on Pinterest.
